Parisa Costigan - Partner
Parisa has recently joined Coole+Haddock as a partner with responsibility for management of the Horsham office.
Parisa qualified as a solicitor in 1990 and has specialised in the fields of Personal Injury and Clinical Negligence since 1993. She was awarded a masters degree in advance litigation from Nottingham Trent University's Nottingham law school in 1999.
Parisa was previously a partner at a national firm and more recently joined Coole+Haddock from a firm in London.
She is a qualified member of National Institute of Trial Advocates and is also a senior litigator member of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers as well as the Law Society's Personal Injury panel of specialist solicitors.
She has vast experience of handling complex and serious personal injury and clinical negligence claims on behalf of claimants on legal aid as well as No Win No Fee basis.
Parisa has in the recent past successfully brought cases on behalf of claimants against local hospitals for compensation for hospital acquired infections which are generally speaking extremely difficult to claim for (she settled the very first claim of this type in the country).
Some of her cases have also helped to set precedents having had decisions referred to the Court of Appeal for clarification of the law. In particular a case which recently provided lawyers with guidelines as to when to make offers to settle claims during court proceedings.
Parisa recently successfully sued a national house building company on behalf of former employees in respect of an accident on a building site. The case was won at court after several years.
Parisa provides pro bono advice to charities such as AVMA (Action for Victims of Medical Accidents) helping on their helpline. She also regularly provides advice sessions for local CABs.
Parisa is married and lives in West Sussex. Her interests outside work include walking on the South Downs, golf, cycling and eating out.
