COMMERCIAL PROPERTY

Iain Swalwell - Partner

Iain graduated from Downing College, Cambridge, in 1977. He was articled to Needham & Grant in London and, on qualification, remained working for Needham & Grant as an assistant solicitor specialising in commercial property. He joined the firm in 1982, and became an equity partner in 1986.

Iain has a broad experience of commercial property transactions, and his recent experience includes:

•    the acquisition of two prime retail and office investments in London W1 for a sum in excess of £80m
•    acquisition and development of a non-food out-of-town retail development, first lettings to blue chip tenants and sale of investment
•    acquisition of "green belt" land for major UK developer
•    acquisition of various residential development sites in the south and south west
•    sale of substantial commercial properties in the market and at auction
•    negotiation of commercial leases and options to sell and purchase
•    successful opposition to attempt to register development land as a village green
•    negotiation of various section 106 agreements for substantial development sites
•    advice and preparation in relation to substantial planning appeals
•    property advice in relation to share and asset sales

Iain's outside interests include squash, cricket, golf and football (Iain was a football blue).
